BOOKING AND CONFIRMATION
A safari is considered provisionally booked upon receipt of a completed booking form or written confirmation of intent to travel. A provisional booking holds your preferred dates and itinerary for an agreed period, subject to availability.
Your booking is confirmed upon receipt of the required deposit as outlined in your booking agreement. Full details of deposit amounts and payment schedules are set out in the Wondrous Wild Booking Policy, available separately on our website.
By submitting a booking form or deposit payment, the lead guest confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions on behalf of all members of the travelling party.
-
PRICING
All prices quoted by Wondrous Wild are in United States Dollars unless otherwise stated, and are valid at the time of quotation. Wondrous Wild reserves the right to adjust pricing prior to the receipt of a confirmed deposit to reflect changes in supplier costs, currency fluctuations, fuel surcharges, government taxes, or permit fees beyond our control.
Once a deposit has been received and a booking confirmed in writing, the safari price is fixed and will not be subject to surcharge, except in the case of significant and unforeseeable increases in government-imposed taxes or levies, in which case Wondrous Wild will provide full written notice and the guest will have the right to cancel without penalty.
Prices quoted include the services specified in the itinerary and do not include international or domestic airfares unless expressly stated, visa fees, travel insurance, gratuities, or personal expenditure.
-
ITINERARY CHANGES
Wondrous Wild designs every itinerary with care and operates each journey with the intention of delivering it exactly as agreed. However, East Africa’s wilderness environments are by their nature dynamic, and circumstances beyond our control – including weather, road conditions, wildlife patterns, supplier operational changes, and force majeure events – may occasionally require adjustments to be made in the field.
Where an itinerary change is made necessary by circumstances beyond Wondrous Wild’s control, we will endeavour to provide an alternative of equal or greater value. Wondrous Wild accepts no liability for changes required by force majeure or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where a guest requests a change to a confirmed itinerary, Wondrous Wild will make every effort to accommodate the request, subject to availability and any applicable supplier amendment fees. Changes requested within sixty days of departure may be subject to additional costs.
-
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellation by the Guest
Should you need to cancel your safari, written notice must be provided to Wondrous Wild as soon as possible. Cancellation charges apply from the date written notice is received and are outlined in full in the Wondrous Wild Booking Policy. These charges reflect the costs incurred by Wondrous Wild in securing your bookings with suppliers and permit authorities on your behalf.
We strongly recommend that all guests hold comprehensive travel insurance that includes cancellation cover from the date of booking, as cancellation charges may represent a significant portion of the total safari cost.
Cancellation by Wondrous Wild
Wondrous Wild reserves the right to cancel a safari in exceptional circumstances, including where minimum group numbers are not met, where a destination becomes unsafe for travel, or where force majeure conditions make operation of the journey impossible. In such cases, Wondrous Wild will offer the guest the choice of an alternative journey of comparable value, a postponement to an agreed future date, or a full refund of all monies paid to Wondrous Wild. Wondrous Wild accepts no liability for costs incurred by the guest in relation to third-party bookings such as international flights.
-
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Comprehensive travel insurance is not optional – it is a condition of travelling with Wondrous Wild. Every guest is required to hold a valid travel insurance policy that includes, at a minimum, cover for the following:
- Trip cancellation and curtailment
- Emergency medical treatment and hospitalisation
- Emergency medical evacuation, including helicopter evacuation where required
- Personal liability
- Loss or theft of personal belongings
Guests are responsible for ensuring their policy is valid for the specific activities included in their itinerary, including gorilla trekking, game drives, water activities, and any adventure experiences. Wondrous Wild recommends that guests take out travel insurance at the time of booking to ensure cancellation cover is in place from the earliest possible date. Proof of insurance may be requested prior to departure.
-
HEALTH AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
It is the responsibility of each guest to ensure they meet the health and entry requirements for all countries included in their itinerary, including valid passport, visa, and vaccination documentation. Wondrous Wild provides general guidance on entry and health requirements as part of the pre-departure information pack, but this guidance does not constitute legal or medical advice and guests are responsible for verifying current requirements with the relevant embassies and a qualified medical professional.
Yellow fever vaccination certificates may be required for entry into certain East African countries depending on the guest’s travel routing and country of origin. Antimalarial prophylaxis is strongly recommended for most safari destinations in the region.
Wondrous Wild accepts no liability for a guest’s inability to travel due to failure to hold the required documentation, vaccinations, or entry permits.
-
GORILLA TREKKING PERMITS
Gorilla trekking permits in Rwanda are issued by the Rwanda Development Board and are subject to availability, pricing, and regulations set by the Rwandan government. Permit costs are passed directly to the guest at the prevailing rate at the time of booking and are non-refundable once purchased, in accordance with Rwanda Development Board policy.
Wondrous Wild manages the permit acquisition process on the guest’s behalf as part of the Rwanda itinerary. In the event that a trekking permit cannot be used due to circumstances beyond the guest’s control – including adverse weather, park closure, or medical inability to trek on the day – Wondrous Wild will make every reasonable effort to secure an alternative date or partial resolution, but cannot guarantee a refund or replacement permit where this falls outside our authority.
-
SUPPLIER SERVICES AND LIABILITY
Wondrous Wild acts as a tour operator and designs, books, and manages safari journeys on behalf of our guests. Certain elements of your journey – including flights, lodge and camp accommodations, and specialist activities – are provided by independent third-party suppliers. While Wondrous Wild selects its supplier partners with care and holds them to the standards our guests expect, we do not own or operate these services directly and cannot accept liability for their acts or omissions.
In the event of a supplier failure, Wondrous Wild will work proactively to arrange suitable alternatives and will advocate on the guest’s behalf where appropriate. Guests are advised to ensure their travel insurance policy provides cover for supplier failure.
-
BEHAVIOUR AND CONDUCT
Wondrous Wild reserves the right to exclude any guest from a safari, without refund, where their behaviour is deemed to endanger the safety or wellbeing of other guests, guides, local communities, or wildlife. This includes but is not limited to failure to follow the instructions of guides in the field, disregard for park rules and wildlife viewing protocols, or conduct that violates local laws or customs.
All guests are expected to engage with the communities, cultures, and environments they visit with respect and sensitivity. East Africa’s wildlife and wild spaces are irreplaceable, and their protection is a responsibility shared by every person who travels through them.
-
PHOTOGRAPHY AND PRIVACY
Wondrous Wild may use photographs or testimonials provided voluntarily by guests for marketing and promotional purposes, including on our website and social media channels. Guests who do not wish their images or testimonials to be used in this way should inform Wondrous Wild in writing at or before the time of travel.
Wondrous Wild will not share guest personal data with third parties other than the suppliers required to deliver your journey, and handles all personal information in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
-
GOVERNING LAW
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Kenyan courts, unless otherwise agreed in writing between the parties.
-
AMENDMENTS TO THESE TERMS
Wondrous Wild reserves the right to update or amend these terms and conditions from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking confirmation is the version that applies to your journey. Guests are encouraged to review the current terms on our website before making a booking.
